Inspired by our Talon Moon series, this piece is named after the goddess Hecate, represented here by the diadem shape she is occasionally depicted as wearing in art history. This crescent crown, formed by Owl Talons, speaks to her role as a Goddess of the Moon in both its crescent shape, as well as its full moon shape, shown here by the Onyx set within the crescent. 

Considered one of the ancient goddesses, (and in some tales), the only Titan allowed to retain her authority after the Olympians seized control, Hecate is a triple faced goddess associated with witchcraft, the Underworld, specters and the dead. She is also well known as the Goddess of crossroads, symbolically viewed as the liminal space between worlds. Because of these attributes, she has an ability to accept the strange and shadowy nature of people, making her a personal favorite of mine.  

Onyx is best known for being a natural stone that acts as a kind of 'psychic armor' against the negativity of others. It is also used to sooth grief and heartbreak. It is a wonderful grounding stone and a stone of self mastery, enabling its wearers to have mental and spiritual focus.

The onyx stones are hand cut and therefore may have very slight differences in size and may have small signs of the carver's hands along the edges. These are not fabricated by a machine, they are made by hand and therefore aren't uniformly perfect. The photographs accurately portray the quality of the stones and the cuts. 

A sterling bezel holds the onyx so both the domed front and smooth back are viewed, allowing the stone to "breathe".  Entirely made in sterling silver, this piece is paired with our signature bar link chain, oxidized to our favorite shade of gloomy gray and polished to highlight the silver underneath.
