A love song to Aphrodite who was born on the foam of the sea from the blood of a Titan and who rode to the earthly plane whole within in seashell: a reversed, delicate diadem made entirely of life cast star fish, which were molded 10 years ago when the first Sea Witch collection was being dreamed up. Made in a web like pattern with each star touching the other, in a gesture of eternal kinship.  

Here, two planes are fixed eternally together, the celestial plane as well as the sea, both realms that contain mysteries humans have not fully been able to explore or comprehend and have assigned many myths and lore to. We do know that we are made of star matter, that we continually ‘eat’ star dust as stars explode in the heavens and float down into plant matter that we consume. As our bodies regenerate anew, we turn over this matter as well - and are born anew, much like Aphrodite born whole on the sea foam from blood that fell from the heavens. This jewel as a talisman relates to the concept of as above so below, as the star fish have the universal shape of a star we have come to associate with the shape of those in the night sky symbolically.  

As a devotional and talismanic object - Aphrodite is associated with the traditional aspects of love and beauty ( in all its forms ) but is also a fierce warrior, there are images of her holding weaponry and there is a worshipped aspect of her as Venus the Victorious. The diadem suggests a feeling of success and victory, of achievement and celestial intervention. 

The starfish is also an incredibly resilient creature, known to regenerate damaged parts of itself when attacked including limbs. Its ancientness also speaks to its endurance  adding another layer of resilience to this jewel.  

Wear when feeling the need for these qualities, as well as for its incredible tactile-ness, each starfish is highly detailed and the necklace is reversible, both sides have a slightly different design.
